The Social Football Observatory is an initiative linked to the Media and Sport Studies Laboratory (LEME) at the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ).
The Observatory’s main interest is to produce scientifically grounded knowledge — theoretically oriented, empirically supported, and politically committed to the discussion of a phenomenon that is highly significant in our country: football.
The aim is to continue LEME’s long research trajectory through the development of public policies and technical reports across our three research lines: Violence and Social Relations; Clubs and Enterprises; and Collectives and Activism.
As an outreach project, the Social Football Observatory seeks to build connections between the university, civil society, public institutions, sports clubs, and other social organizations.
